Changelog
v1.0.1 — 2026-10-11
Bindery is reachable without TinyAuth again; its own login protects every page.
Changed
- No TinyAuth in front of Bindery any more, so people who aren't in TinyAuth can reach it; Bindery's own login protects every page (cover images excepted).
v1.0.0 — 2026-10-11
A new look for finding and downloading books: a Discover front page with shelves, Browse, a page per book, your own lists and recommendations — with book details filled in automatically, and full user management for admins.
Added
- Discover front page: the newest book featured, then automatic shelves — New in Bindery, Recommended for you, Because you liked …, Popular, Want to read, daily category shelves and Rediscover. Each book appears once per page; empty shelves hide themselves.
- Browse: the whole catalogue with category, tag and author filters, search on title, author and ISBN, sorting (newest, title, author, most downloaded, recommended for me) and pages of 48.
- A page per book: large cover, full description, download with file size, categories and tags, details (ISBN, language, year, pages) and More by / Readers who liked this also liked / You may also like.
- My books: your want-to-read list and the books you downloaded; cards show what you saved or downloaded.
- Recommendations from Liked it / Not for me, plus what other readers liked once there are enough.
- Automatic metadata: missing descriptions, covers, ISBNs, language, year, page count and categories are filled from Google Books and Open Library — at intake, after a review-queue edit and every night — only empty fields, only from a verified match, descriptions only in the book's language. Enrich now runs it at once.
- Google Books API key in Settings, checked when saved, with plain-language errors and steps for getting a key.
- User management: reset passwords, change roles and delete accounts, with guards (always one admin, no deleting yourself); everyone can change their own password.
- Categories from Open Library, Google Books and a pasted bol.com link, as a filter and for shelves.
Changed
- Books without an ISBN are confirmed when a title/author search supplies a matching description; Reprocess all applies this to the review queue too.
- One look for all admin pages: styled buttons, fields, tables and panels; menus close when you click elsewhere.
- Sessions follow account changes: a password reset, role change or deletion logs that user out at once; a demoted admin loses admin access immediately.
- Password managers only fill and save on login and your own password, never when managing other users.
- Book files and covers live in the database, so the database is the only thing to back up.
- Bindery runs behind Traefik with TinyAuth.
Fixed
- Titles differing only in capitals ("Het Diner" / "Het diner") weren't recognised as a match.
- An EPUB listing several languages was read as its first one; it now counts as unknown.
- Stylesheet not loading behind Traefik, and smaller layout issues on phones and iPads.
v0.2.0 — 2026-09-20
Admin tooling around the review queue, metadata written back into the EPUB files, and a catalogue that requires login.
Added
- Upload a cover yourself from the review queue.
- Confirmed or edited title, author, description, ISBN and cover are written into the EPUB file itself.
- Send a confirmed book back to the review queue to complete it.
- Fetch title, author, description, ISBN and cover from a pasted bol.com product page.
- One processing overview of every file through the intake pipeline, with actions per row.
- Reprocess all uncertain books at once; reset everything (admin, double confirmation).
- Build version shown in the header, with cache-busted stylesheets.
Changed
- Login is required to see the catalogue, not only to download.
- Steadier catalogue cards; HTML is stripped from descriptions.
Fixed
- Books wrongly left uncertain: a title/author search runs when the ISBN isn't found.
- One failing lookup no longer blocks the rest of an intake round.
- Wrong or missing bol.com covers in several cases.
v0.1.0 — 2026-09-09
First version of Bindery: a catalogue for Dutch-language EPUBs with automatic intake, metadata matching, and download.
Added
- Automatic intake: a background job reads new EPUBs, extracts metadata, and looks up ISBNs at Open Library and Google Books.
- Books only become visible and downloadable once title and author are confirmed; unconfirmed books sit in a separate review queue for admins.
- Catalogue with search by title/author and filtering by tags.
- Login with your own account; only admins can create user accounts.
